Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Structured group therapy combining DBT skills training, mindfulness, and psychoeducation — available mornings, afternoons, and evenings at CenterPointe Hospital.

What is IOP?

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured group therapy program designed for adults struggling with depression, anxiety, panic, anger, and trauma. Led by Edward Flynn, LPC, sessions combine evidence-based DBT skills training with mindfulness practices and psychoeducational topics to build lasting coping strategies.

Each session runs for three hours and includes three distinct group components. The program is offered at CenterPointe Hospital in St. Louis with three daily time slots to accommodate different schedules.

9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

5:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Session Structure

Brief Mood Surveys & Process

Check-In & Assessment

Discussed triggers to symptoms indicated on mood survey. Patients explore what has been affecting their emotional state and identify patterns that contribute to distress.

Psychoeducational Topic

Learning & Understanding

Topic varies each session — including DBT, Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and more. Each topic builds skills for daily life.

Coping Skills

Application & Practice

Identify coping skills effective in managing depression, anxiety, panic, and anger. Practice real-world application of skills learned during the psychoeducational component.
